Who we are...

AHML is a non-aligned, not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to promote and facilitate the adoption of compliant international healthcare messaging standards. AHML is providing a world-class, easy-to-access message testing environment for software developers and implementers.

AHML receives strategic direction from an Advisory Board constituted from a broad range of organisations representing Commonwealth and State governments, standards organisations and the healthcare industry. The AHML Charter and its governance arrangements, ensure a reputation for independence and reliability in standards compliance services.

The Laboratory is located in the Ballarat Technology Park in Western Victoria – approximately one hour from Melbourne’s International Airport.

Jane Gilbert is the Director and Certification Officer of AHML and has been responsible for overseeing the management and technical aspects of AHML since 2005.

With a Bachelor of Computing and a graduate diploma in Project Management (University of Ballarat), she has considerable experience in software development and project management through the complete software life cycle.

Jane is actively involved in Standards development and conformance/compliance testing, nationally and internationally. She is a member of multiple Standards Australia eHealth (IT14) committees as well as Co-Chair of the HL7 International Implementation and Conformance Technical Committee. She has been selected by Standards Australia to be a delegate at HL7 International Working Group meetings over the last 2 years and is a member of the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA) Management Committee.

Jane has been the principal technical adviser for the highly successful HIC Interoperability demonstrations over the last 3 years and this year was the leader of the IHE Australia Pathology profile Connectathon and Showcase.

Priscilla Clark is the Quality Manager of AHML and has been ensuring the standards of quality are met and delivered in of the laboratories procedures since 2006. She maintains all aspects of AHML's accreditations.

With a Bachelor of Business Information Systems (University of Ballarat) and two NATA Quality Management training courses in 2007 and 2008 she has the competency to look after the Quality Management System and provide quality results and service to all AHML customers.

Evan Dekker is the Technical Officer of AHML and has been responsible for technical changes, problems and improvements to the AHML testing engine and website since 2004.

With a Bachelor of Computing and Honours in computing (University of Ballarat), he has the competency to maintain, improve and enhance the ongoing technical operation of AHML.
